BRING DOWN LIGHT a master's thesis exhibition

April, 2006 • UNIVERSITY ART GALLERY CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, CHICO

Two familiar objects, the shopping cart and the wheel, abandon their former functions to take on the tasks and goals of spiritual aspirants: isolation, meditation, levitation, energy transmission, gathering with their kind to build new structures, and ecstasy.

The objects stand proxy for me. I wanted to experience the transformations I was picturing. I poured physical, mental, and emotional energy onto the page and into the images' movements and characterizations.

Matter and energy, dark and light, motion and rest, specific and ambiguous, inside and outside, up and down, near and far, dirty and clean define the poles between which these images operate.
